THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS «GENDER STUDIES IN ANCIENT EGYPT»
El Instituto Español de Egiptología y Coptología-IEEC está de enhorabuena. Tras varios meses de arduo trabajo, os presentamos El Primer Congreso Internacional «Estudios de Género en el Antiguo Egipto»/The First International Congress «Gender Studies in Ancient Egypt».
Ningún evento de esta magnitud surge de la nada. Muchas/os colegas han trabajado duramente para que el congreso llegue a buen puerto. Desde la obtención de la línea de crédito que posibilitará su desarrollo, hasta la elección de la Sede del mismo, han supuesto obstáculos que con tesón el Instituto Español de Egiptología y Coptología ha sabido sortear, no sin dificultades.
Sin embargo, hoy os podemos anunciar no solo su sede, la Facultad de Filología, Traducción y Comunicación de la Universidad de Valencia (UV, Campus Universitario de Blasco Ibáñez), sino también un aspecto fundamental en este tipo de reuniones científicas: la publicación de las Actas. Los papers del congreso serán editados en una monografía dentro de la Serie “Colloquia Aegyptiaca” que el IEEC acaba de aprobar con su correspondiente registro legal. La edición de la obra, pues, será desarrollada por la propia editorial del centro, IEEC Ed.
El congreso constará de sesiones temáticas, cada una de las cuales contará con una ponencia principal, “leída” por una/un especialista en la materia, y por comunicaciones que se podrán presentar al Comité Científico para su aprobación. En este sentido, solamente se admitirán trabajos inéditos de profesionales inmersos en proyectos de investigación académicos o institucionales, públicos y privados, con su correspondiente acreditación a través del código ORCID.
Aunque se podrán presentar trabajos en los diversos idiomas de la comunidad científica egiptológica, la lengua oficial de la publicación será el inglés, por razones obvias de difusión científica.
El congreso presentará un formato híbrido, con el objeto de facilitar la participación de los colegas americanos, africanos y de Asia y Oceanía, teniendo en cuenta la diferencia horaria.
Cabe recordar que el IEEC ha establecido un sistema de becas para aquellos investigadores que presenten propuesta de comunicación. La información al respecto está disponible en el siguiente enlace:

Dado que el congreso es el resultado de un esfuerzo continuado desde mediados del pasado año 2023, las fechas de las diversas circulares así como las del propio evento se pueden notificar de forma oficial para que los interesados remitan sus propuestas:
-1ª circular, 15 enero de 2024: presentación del congreso.
-2ª circular, 17 julio de 2024: temas, sesiones, deadlines, tarifas, centro académico e investigador sede del congreso y becas.
-3ª circular, 30 noviembre de 2024: información sobre viajes, manutención, hospedaje y aspectos editoriales de la publicación de las actas.
-4ª circular, 15 febrero de 2025: programa definitivo del congreso, con especificación de ponencias, comunicaciones y actividades complementarias al propio congreso.
The Spanish Institute of Egyptology and Coptology-IEEC is in luck. After several months of hard work, we present The First International Congress «Gender Studies in Ancient Egypt».
No event of this magnitude comes from nowhere. Many colleagues have worked hard to get the congress to a successful conclusion. From obtaining the credit line that will enable its development, to the election of the Headquarters of the same, they have posed obstacles that the Spanish Institute of Egyptology and Coptology has managed to overcome, not without difficulties.
However, today we can announce not only its Headquarters, the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication of the University of Valencia (UV, Blasco Ibáñez College Campus), but also a fundamental aspect in this type of scientific meetings: the publication of the Proceedings. The papers of the congress will be published in a monograph within the Series "Colloquia Aegyptiaca" that the IEEC has just approved with its corresponding legal registration. The edition of the work papers be developed by the editorial of the center, IEEC Publishing Co.
The congress will consist of thematic sessions, each of which will have a main paper, "read" by a specialist in the field, and communications or papers that may be submitted to the Scientific Committee for approval. In this sense, only unpublished papers by professionals immersed in academic or institutional research projects, public and private, with their corresponding accreditation through the code ORCID.
Although papers may be submitted in the different languages of the Egyptological scientific community, the official language of the publication will be English, for obvious reasons of scientific dissemination.
The congress will present a hybrid format, to facilitate the participation of American, African and Asian and ocean colleagues, taking into account the time difference.

Since the congress is the result of an ongoing effort since mid-2023, the dates of the various circulars, as well as those of the event itself, can be officially notified so that interested parties can submit their proposals:
-1st circular, 15 January 2024: presentation of the congress.
-2nd circular, 17 July 2024: topics, sessions, deadlines, fees, academic and research center that hosts the congress and scholarships.
-3rd circular, 30 November 2024: information on travel, subsistence, accommodation and drafting of the publication of the Proceedings.
-4th circular, 15 February 2025: definitive program of the congress, with specifications of presentations, papers and complementary activities to the congress itself.
